Throwback Thursday: Ms. Carol's Wedding 4 years ago
Hello my Lovelies and Gents,
In honor of Throwback Thursday I am wishing Ms. Carol and Mr. Jared a Happy Anniversary. Four years ago today they were married. I have been wanting to post about that for a long time. Their wedding and everything leading up to it was a blast. I barely knew the other bridesmaids at first, but we have since become friends.
It was so much fun planning the bridal shower and the bachelorette party. That was a LOT of fun...even my dad was there! Well it was only fair as we crashed his house at the beach for a few days.
Sadly I was not there when the dresses were selected. That would have been nice. But, since we all have different body types it was decided that we would all pick our own dress. It just had to be full length and empire waist. Ms. Carol would pick the color. It turned out perfectly. We all picked our dream dresses. There was no arguing over two people picking the same. We each got our own color. I was Watermelon pink. Ms. Shaylee was a beautiful blue green (although I would call it Grand Turk Ocean Blue). And Ms. Ariana was a beautiful yellow.
Bridesmaid dresses are a good motivator. When I bought the dress and it fit perfectly except the length then I was in good shape. My focus became working out my arms. They would be completely highlighted in the dress. I was very happy with how I looked. Looking back I could have done so much better. I have asked them to renew their vows because I would TOTALLY rock that dress...and need to have it taken in.
I didn't want to loose too much weight because I didn't want to have the dress altered. My goal was to maintain. I should have tried to lose a little. I do see my belly in every picture...and that's with my special tummy sucker-inner. I'll live though.
Aunt Carol hemmed my dress for me and I am forever grateful. We could have made a couple wraps with the excess material. It was not easy. She even delivered it to me to make sure it fit. There were a couple of fittings were it didn't. Very close, but could not zip.
So the day of the wedding we got all prettied up and it was beautiful. And my dress didn't fit. I was starting to flip out. It was sooooo close. What was the problem? And then I realized that I had not been trying it on previously with that bra. The fit was so tight there was no room for one. Crisis averted...except that my tan lines were visible in many photos. haha.
I felt so beautiful that day. I loved everything from my hair to my make up to my dress. I felt happy. When I look at the pictures it makes me smile. It really does. But, it's hard when you have a Former Fat Girl living inside you. She sees the belly and the arms that are nowhere near as nice as they are today. I really need to shove her aside when I look at these.
Now I just need someone else to get married so that I can rock another dress!
Have a Blessed Evening

Hi Jen, it's Shaylee. I thought you looked gorgeous in that dress! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was such a wonderful weekend, probably one of my top five favorite experiences. We all looked so happy, didn't we? I wish I could go back to that time, because I worked really hard to get into my dress and had a lot of it taken in before the wedding. Flash forward four years (and a kid) later, and those days are long gone. I'm trying to rally my inner self to start again, but it's a daunting thought. I pop in and read your blog from time to time, and find it extremely motivational. You have done so well! I'm so proud of you!
I'd love for you to meet our daughter sometime. I know your time with Carol and the girls is limited when you come to visit, but if you are ever here for an extended period of time, let me know. I'd love to catch up face to face sometime!
Keep up the great work! Miss you!
