The Biggest Loser: Season 15 Episode 9
Welcome to the Biggest Loser Ranch,
Okay, so I'm a week behind. So sorry. Life has gotten crazy busy. I'll have this week's episode shortly. Although I guess there's no hurry since we have 3 weeks til the next episode.
Let's get back to last week's though.
We start with the challenge. It's a pop challenge. The losing team will have to work in a Diner all week.
Tanya wants to win. She works in the food industry and is still tempted. She doesn't want to be around that.
There are 4 multiple choice questions regarding obesity and the workplace.
1) Approximately what Percentage of Full-time employees are overweight or obese?
a) 1/3 b) 1/2 c) 2/3
Both the Red and Blue teams selected C. White picked B.
The answer is C.
2) According to the Huffington Post, what's the number one source of food that people bring into the office?
a) food from home b) fast food c) food from the grocery store
All of the teams selected B. That is correct.
3) From a survey by CNBC, what occupation has the highest percentage of overweight and obese people?
a) Transportation workers b) Business owners c) clerical/office workers
The White and the Blue team selected A. Red picked C.
The answer is A.
If you are keeping track: Blue has 3 points. Red and White have 2.
4) According to USA Today, what percentage of Administrative Assistants have reported gaining weight since beginning their job?
a) 48% b) 69% c) 78%
The Blue and Red team each pick B. The White team selects A.
The correct answer is B. The White team is going to work in the diner all week. Marie is noticeably upset. She wishes just once that the White team could catch a break.
Checking in with Ruben.
When he started at the Biggest Loser Ranch, Ruben weighed 462 lbs. Today he weighs 350 lbs. He is working on an album release for February. He is always busy, but makes time for working out. He appreciates the opportunity to get his life back. And he hopes to be in the 200's for the Finale.
Jillian is sort of freaking out. She has never felt so cursed.
Then we get a glimpse of a day at the diner. Marie says it's a challenge and a temptation rolled into one. Jay says that it's just another hurdle. Tumi is wondering how they are going to workout with Jillian after spending all day on their feet. They decide to take some treats back to the Ranch for the Red and Blue teams.
Back on the Ranch
Dolvett reminds his team that they could be serving meatloaf. David reflects on what life will be like waiting at home.
Rachel admits to Dolvett that she is afraid of the unknown. He tells her to use that fear as fuel.
Tanya thanks Dolvett for his wisdom and not sugar coating it. The thinks about the Real World and is learning about balance. She is blessed to know Dolvett. It's a big giant Red Team Lovefest. Rachel tells Dolvett that they were put with him for a reason. Jennifer tells him that he has changed her life.
*Sigh...I heart Dolvett...he's so dreamy*
Bob talks about his frustration with Hap. His low numbers are driving him crazy. Thinking about his 2 lb loss makes him "nuts in the head." He talks to Hap and wants him to document everything he eats. He wants him to cut out the complex carbs. Hap says that if he pulls another 2 lbs then he's not going to be there anymore.
*Let's go back to last week. Hap was very frustrated with his numbers. He was also frustrated because Bobby didn't seem to work out as much and put up big numbers. Just goes to show you that it's not all about how much you workout. Watching what you eat is just as important.*
Bob has the Team working on the mat.
Bobby is tired. Bob is worried about him after last week's big number.
On the mats, Bob has them flipping and rolling. Bobby is having a hard time. He cannot do a forward roll. Bob tells him that he saved the Blue team last week. He's waiting for him to take a turn with his confidence.
*Flipping and rolling may not seem like much, but speaking from experience, after being overweight for so long, discovering how flexible you really are and how much easier simple movements are is an amazing thing.*
The White team gets to the gym at 8pm. Jillian says they look exhausted. She tells them that when you have less time, how you work out matters more. AMEN!
In the kitchen, the Blue team walks in and sees the Diner food that the White team brought back for them. Matt is calculating the calories in his head. Bobby starts throwing it away. Hap says he will go in the trash. So Bobby and Chelsea pour soap on it. LOVE THAT.
The treats weren't just in the kitchen though. There are some cookies on pillows.
Challenge America
Brita has the kid ambassadors and the First Lady at their headquarters. Start small. They challenge you to drink more water.
In a well placed "The More You Know" spot, Bob stresses portion control. He suggests using smaller plates for meals.
Back at the Ranch,
Dolvett pulls Jennifer aside. She has a 9 year old daughter who is 70 lbs overweight. He had a video chat set up. He offers to train her daughter. He wants her to keep a video diary.
His first workout for her can be done during her favorite show. On commercials he wants her to stand up and sit down repeatedly. He also wants her to focus on proteins and greens for her dinner for 3 weeks.
Jennifer tells her "If I can do it you can." She can't wait to get home and show them all that she has learned.
