Gobble til you Wobble

 Hello Beautiful People,

I hope that this post finds you well. It's Christmas time and I couldn't be happier, but let's talk Thanksgiving. Was yours good?

I went up to my mom's in Virginia. I was really looking forward to some rest, but of course, I brought tons of projects that I was hoping to work on. I obviously planned on writing some blog posts, but that didn't happen. What did happen was that I watched a lot of Christmas movies and wrote out all of the Christmas cards that I mail out. And I mailed them. WOO WOO! I still have to write out the ones that I hand out in person.

Leading up to my trip I was in a great habit of getting in my cardio. I have not been to the gym since the beginning of October. Frankly, I just couldn't deal with all of the political ads on the tvs. It did not lead to a stress-free gym experience. I was doing laps in the gym at church though. I'm very proud of the pace that I worked up to. And the hard work paid off on the scale. I lost 5 lbs over a month. Hooray! And then came the string of pizza parties at school. DOH!  It's okay. I had the plan to hit the gym on vacation.

I traveled up to my mom's the day before Thanksgiving. My goal was to arrive before it got dark. I still needed to get to the grocery store. I was going to mom's, but she wasn't going to be there. I made it to Wegmans and grabbed my essentials. I didn't want to spend any more time in a grocery store the day before Thanksgiving than I needed.

When I got to mom's I did my laundry (I didn't need to pack much if I did that. LOL). Please note, that I washed my jeans. That is integral to the story.

I was really excited about sleeping in. I mean REALLY excited. My body had other plans. The curse of a healthy digestive system. I woke up to poop and couldn't get back to sleep. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I have been planning a post for a while about healthy digestive systems. TMI I know, but I'm a Fitness Nutrition Specialist and a regular poop is essential.  Okay, thwarted by my regular morning poop, I got up and made my breakfast (which was a breakfast burrito that I didn't like) and I went to make my coffee. UGH!  The coffee maker fought me. It took an hour to get it to work, but I did it. And then I didn't like the taste. Grr.

I put on some Christmas movies and started my cards. Before I knew it, it was time to take my shower and get dressed. To keep myself from overdoing it, I planned on wearing my jeans. Having a waist that will feel tight will help you from overdoing it. Well in theory. I realized later that I didn't take any pictures of my plate so I will just have to describe it. Mashed Potatoes. That's it. Just kidding, but that was definitely the first thing that I put on my plate. My aunt makes the best-roasted vegetable platter. It's full of Brussels sprouts, asparagus, peppers, onions, and sweet potatoes. I also had corn casserole and stuffing. Now, I did not fill my plate. I left the border of the plate free.  I did not have seconds. I sat there for a little while and I started to feel those freshly washed jeans. I should have had some carbonation to make me burp, but I didn't. I did NOT feel good for the rest of the night. Honestly, I could not get home fast enough to take those pants off. I needed a pair of Phoebe's pregnancy pants something fierce. SO MUCH STARCH! I didn't even feel better when I got out of the pants. I had some tums and ginger ale when I got home, but I didn't feel better until the next morning. UGH. Thanksgiving FAIL!

I know what you are thinking though: At least you got to sleep in the next day, Boo. NOPE. The next day I was expecting a friend to come for a visit. I needed an oil change and tire rotation so I got up early to take my car in. They took care of me fast, but many people came in after me for inspections so I'm glad I went when I did. Anyway, I wanted to go to my favorite used bookstore. I was walking around for about five minutes before my knee stopped working. I couldn't bend my knee as I walked. I was in pain. I mean I got a cart and leaned on that to keep looking, but I wasn't going to last long. I was hurting BAD. While I was there I heard from Heather, she wasn't going to be able to visit. Insert Sad Face.

Sadly I didn't take any Thanksgiving leftovers home, I mean the mashed potatoes baby in my belly made it easy to walk away from. So I stopped at Wawa for a shorti veggie hoagie. Hooray for Wawa! When I got home I took some pain reliever and elevated my leg. It felt much better and would bend for me. Hooray!

So I'm sitting there enjoying my pain-free knee and I'm watching a Christmas movie, surprise, and I can't help but focus on the woman's hair. It looks so nice and I'm overdue for a haircut. Obviously, I made an appointment for 30 minutes later. No time to think about what I wanted. I just know that I struggled to do my hair for Thanksgiving. I live in braids and hats.

Bangs Baby!  I normally take polls for weeks when I'm thinking about a haircut. I will spend days thinking about which cut I want. I didn't have time to think this time. I pulled out my go-to haircut picture and I'm super happy with the results. Hooray!

The next morning Aunt Carol and I went to the Farmers Market. We were very excited. There weren't as many vegetable stands, but my candle lady was there. We also found a vendor from an Alpaca Farm. I got a lovely hat and gloves for Christmas in Maine. Next, we went to our favorite store: And That! I found a nutcracker that was CLEARLY made with me in mind.

Eventually, it was time to eat lunch. We went to my favorite diner. I was wearing my jeans again and the idea of my favorite vegetarian burger made me sick. I couldn't have anything too filling. So I got the grilled cheese. It came with a side of orange-cranberry dipping sauce. It was jam-like and it was INCREDIBLE. I'll never eat a plain grilled cheese again. Sorry I didn't take a picture.

Was this trip full of super healthy eating and exercise every day? Nope. Was that the original plan? Yep. Am I mad? Nope. My eating wasn't super healthy, but it wasn't overboard. It also wasn't full of sweets. Did I need to exercise? Yes. Did I need to rest? EVEN More! I needed to give myself a pass. I've been doing really well and I really needed some rest time. I got that.

I leave for Maine in two weeks and I'm probably not getting much rest before I leave. Let's be thankful for every peaceful moment we get.

I appreciate you.

Have a Blessed Evening,

Jennie
