Another Case of the Mondays...

Happy Monday!  BLAH!

I try really hard to keep my Sunday's low key.  You really need a day of rest.  Even God rested on the seventh day.  For the longest time I was even staying off of my computer on Sundays.  I broke that rule with the blog.  Oops.  I will get back to that soon.

The body and the mind both need rest.  And after a Monday I always know why.  It wasn't a bad day, don't get me wrong.  Just a lot going on in my head.  I had a really hard time getting up this morning.  Which is funny because Saturday I woke up before I normally would on a weekday.  Funny how my body is all over going to the track and walking, but it really fights me on Monday mornings.  Well today I opted for extra sleep.  That meant a wash cloth bath before I got ready this morning.  I always think it's a good idea when I make that decision, but I easily second guess it when my hair looks like a birds nest (even in a pony tail) by lunch time.

Oh well, my hair is a mess, I might as well go out and sweat it up!  It was unbelievably beautiful today.  There was no way I was wasting it at the mall at lunch.  Instead, I just walked around the parking lot at work for an hour.  Bonus!  I got in an extra mile.  Double Bonus! I even got a little color!  Bah...and almost got hit by a couple of cars.  I suddenly remembered why I started going to the mall in the first place.

I used to walk the parking lot all of the time.  It was nice.  I could spend some time outside and get some exercise.  Then we would have a week of rain and I would not get out there.  Or worse, it got too cold and I didn't do it.  Way back in one of the first blog posts I gave a shout out to your body for having a memory.  If you miss some workouts (or 4 months worth) it will remember you when you come back.  You will find your way back to your old body in no time.  Unfortunately, it also works the other way.  If you skip a few weeks, it's not too long until the doughy body comes back.  I used to get so frustrated when I would see my body slipping back.  It felt like I would take one step forward and then two steps back.

I would get so excited when I would walk again and my body would start to tighten up and bounce back.  That is such an awesome feeling.  It all came back to me while I was walking today.  I'm so glad I started going to the mall to walk.  NO EXCUSES!  Doesn't matter if it's raining.  Doesn't matter if it's cold.  The mall is always there.  This was the first year I didn't slip back.  I've been constantly moving forward.  Check out the link for my Confessions of a Former Fat Girl Facebook page below.  I recently added pictures.  I have a couple different categories: Before and Work in Progress.  It's funny, a lot of pictures I would have put in the "after" a few months are now not good enough for me.  It's a good ride. :-)

The sun is setting earlier every night and I need to come up with a plan.  I am not going to be able to walk in the park any more, at least not for my 5 miles.  I don't even think I can get 4 in now.  As I was walking at lunch I was thinking of walking the 4 miles in the parking lot and then hitting up the mall after work a couple of nights a week for 6 miles.  If I plan ahead it's doable. I'm not crazy, I won't try that more than twice a week.  Wednesday nights are now booked with Choir practice (I sing like an Angel!  hahahaha...JOKING).  So that means one extra night.  I think I will try a workout dvd for that night.  It's good to switch things up. Your body will adjust to a schedule.  Shake it up a bit and avoid the dreaded Plateau.

It's going to be a tough few months: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and winter.  Make a plan now!  I beg of you.  I don't want to hear any excuses.  We can get through this together!
